Ya know....there isn't anything about collecting model aircraft that I don't like. I really enjoy the hunt for the next plane, whatever it may be. The only thing that I think can top that enjoyment is finding a plane by my favorite manufacturer that I didn't even know existed before finding it. So with that little tease, keep coming back I should have a really rare model coming in the next week or so.....as long as it doesn't get lost in the mail.

Agreed on the "hunt" thing!
However...nothing beats an unexpected bargain! ...and it's good for all sizes and scales!

Nice! ...it's not often that you find "toy metal airplanes" finished in natural metal!

With a 20" W/S this has to be one of the most impressive, unusual and rare Fomaer there is. So here is a Fomaer, Caproni Vizzola C22J

After several years of owning my Fomaer MIG-29, I had to restore the model completely due to fading exhausts, vertical rudders and intakes. These were separate parts made of zinc alloy attached to the aluminum frame of the model.
These parts just rotten down as we know it from wartime die cast toys. Obviously Fomaer used a faulty batch of zinc alloy to do them.

I had no other chance than to replace them by plastic parts from a model kit. It's good for appearance, but not so nice for the character of the model.
But it was the last way to safe the model.

It was finally painted in Norm 90 camo scheme, last one of the Luftwaffe before the planes were given to Poland.

I would be interested to learn, if other owners of this MIG-29 from Fomaer have the same problem.
If I look to the model of Scott earlier this thread, I can see the same cracks on the bottom of the rudders, which my model showed at the beginning of the fatigue...

Cheers!
Chris
